As a New York medical malpractice and personal injury law firm, we have received many inquiries as to how the coronavirus outbreak might impact lawsuits.
I want to share some of my thoughts on how the coronavirus could have an impact on your potential legal claim and why you need to contact our firm right away if you have been injured and feel like you have a personal injury or medical malpractice claim.
DO NOT Delay Contacting a Law Firm for Your Medical Malpractice or Personal Injury Case Because of Coronavirus
If you were recently injured in a car accident or at the hands of a doctor, one of the worst mistakes you could make is to wait until after the coronavirus pandemic dies down to contact a law firm. Waiting might prevent you from bringing a claim because of the statute of limitations and/or decrease the value of your case.

How Does Coronavirus Effect the Lawsuit Process
On March 13, 2020, the Chief Judge of New York has postponed all scheduled civil jury trials. Additionally, with a goal to minimize courthouse appearances – arguments, conferences, and meetings are to be conducted remotely. Because the New York Court System is closely monitoring the situation, it is possible that further limits on courthouse scheduling and procedures may be implemented to cause additional changes and delays.
What does this mean for you? If you believe that you have a lawsuit, DO NOT hesitate in contacting our firm. The quicker you contact us, the quicker we will be able to resolve your case. No matter what constraints are set by the courts, Powers & Santola, LLP is committed to doing everything within our power to move our cases along as quickly and efficiently as possible to get the highest outcome possible for our clients.
